Washington Explorer Search & Rescue - Kitsap Unit

Washington Explorer Search and Rescue (ESAR) has been serving Kitsap County and the surrounding area since 1978. The unit is registered under the Washington State Department of Emergency Management (DEM) and can be called to assist in search and rescue missions throughout Washington state. The unit is made up of both youth and adult members, with youth eligible to join as early as 14 and encouraged to train into leadership roles within the organization.

WHAT WE DO

Search for missing persons such as hikers, children, and individuals affected by dementia.
Provide first aid and evacuation when necessary.

Assist law enforcement in locating evidence related to criminal activities.

Respond to natural disasters and other catastrophic emergencies like the Oso mudslide (pictured above).
